FAQ

  1. How Do I Book?
    You can make a reservation anywhere in the world 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Reservations can be made online at atlaschoice.com using the top booking bar on each page of the website.
  2. What information do I need to provide?
    You will need to provide the following information when making a booking:
    • the dates and times of travel (and flight number if you're picking up from the airport)
    • the rental location(s) for collection and return
    • the type of vehicle you require (this isn't essential)
    • driver's age.
    We will then check for availability and provide the best negotiated rental quote with various major car rental companies. The rate are fully inclusive of mileage, Third party insurance, CDW, theft waiver, airport surcharges, bail bonds (where needed) and all local taxes.From the quote, you can choose your location and if you can find the desired station please select the next price from the same group of cars and proceed. When you decide to confirm, you will be asked to provide your personal details.
  3. Can I book more than one car at a time?
    Of course! Subject to availability, you can book more than one car. Each booking you make with us will have a unique reservation number. It should be noted, however, that Atlas offer vehicles from multiple suppliers so please ensure that you double-check your pickup and drop off locations - they may be different from vehicle to vehicle.
  4. Choosing your car - Fleet/vehicles
    What is an ACRISS or Sipp Code? ACRISS is the Association of Car Rental Industry Systems Standards. The ACRISS codes are the vehicle category codes and are established to help provide common standards for use when booking car rental services through automated booking systems. These codes are also called Sipp Codes (Standard Interline Passenger Procedure) as defined by the Acriss.
    AtlasChoice offers a wide range of vehicles, with a choice of sizes and styles to suit your requirements. All of our vehicles are, on average, under 8 months old and undergo regular maintenance and service checks prior to every rental. Can I rent a truck/van with AtlasChoice? Trucks/vans are available in selected countries at selected locations. Please review our Fleet Guide section of the website or check with our call-centre agent when you call. To drive a truck, do I need a special driving licence? Most of our trucks can be driven with a generic licence. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions - alternatively our staff are at your disposal to give you all details concerning our different truck models. Can I choose the car/ truck model? Partner vehicles may be booked by category only. Unless availability of a specific model has been formally confirmed, unfortunately we are unable to guarantee a specific model at the time of booking. Can I choose the colour of the car? No, but you're welcome to put in a request. If we can suit your colour choice, we will!
  5. Is additional equipment available?
    Depending on the group of car, there may be some accessories included as standard, such as a sun roof or towing ball for a caravan or trailer. Items such as child and infant seats, ski racks, etc, can be requested for a small fee at the time of reservation subject to availability. Where are the additional extras - when do I pay for them? At the booking stage of the online process (stage 3, after you have selected your pickup and drop-off locations), most of the extras and prices are listed under sub-heading of 'extras payable locally at time of pick-up', or under T&C for that specific location. Please remember that you will pay this when you pick up your vehicle from our car rental partner.
  6. How much does rental cost?
    Our car rental partner charge in periods of 24 hours, so if you take a car for 26 hours for instance, it would be charged as 2 days. We do allow a grace time of 59 minutes before we charge for an additional day. The actual cost of the rental will depend on the group of car, when you rent, for how long and where.   7. Will I receive confirmation of my booking?
    If you make an Online Booking we will send you a reservation confirmation by email or fax. You should print this and keep it for your records. When you collect your car you will receive a Rental Agreement which gives full details of your booking.
  8. Is there a minimum / maximum age for renting a vehicle?
    In most countries, you must be aged 21 or over to rent a car and in any cases have held a driving licence for at least one year. However, the age requirement may vary according to the country and to the vehicle category considered. A Young Driver Surcharge may be applicable in some instances. For online bookings, this information can be found on 3rd stage in the specific location rental T&C pages.
  9. What does my rental include?
    AtlasChoice offers you the option of packages to suit your needs. It should be noted that not all packages are available for every vehicle/supplier.
    • "Inclusive" package:
    The most popular package; The rates are fully inclusive of mileage, Third party insurance,CDW, theft waiver, airport surcharges, bail bonds (where needed) and all local taxes.

    • "Inclusive Plus" package:

        As above but this option gives you a full tank of fuel plus additional driver.(for young drivers, please refer to Terms & Conditions).

    • "Inclusive Plus Gold" package:

        As all the above plus extra insurance options with either no or reduced excess. See package for details.
  10. Can another person drive the rental vehicle?
    The rental vehicle is normally only insured for the person who makes the rental. If others plan to drive the car, they must be added to the Rental Agreement when the car is collected. There will be a charge for each additional driver see specific location Terms and Conditions.
    If you purchase the either Inclusive Plus or the Inclusive Plus Gold packages you can nominate one additional driver free of charge.
  11. Can I drive into another country?
    Our rental partners may permit you to cross the border with the vehicle. This varies according to country of rental, car categories and the countries you wish to visit. Please check on our general conditions pages. To cross the sea or the Channel, a written authorization may be asked by the country. Check at the reservation time.
  12. What is the policy on off-road driving?
    All vehicles, including 4-wheel drives, are to be operated only on regularly maintained roads. Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement. Please refer to your rental agreement for more specific information.
  13. What documents will I need to provide?
    You will need to present a driving licence in your name, issued by your country of residence. The driving licence must be valid in the country of rental (driving licences in characters not readable in the country of rental must be accompanied by an International Driving Licence) and held for a minimum period of time depending on local legislation or conditions.
    You will also need to present a valid credit card. An identification document, such as a passport, may also be required and at certain locations for luxury models a second credit card and/or utility bill dated within the last 3 months from the same address. The same documents (driving licence and ID card or Passport) will be requested for additional drivers, if any.
    A prepaid voucher (with a specified value or the mention Group Days apply), you must also present a credit card for the charges which have not been rrepaid (extras, refueling charge, excess due in case of damage to or loss of the rented vehicle).
  14. Are there mileage limits?
    With the exception of certain destinations in Australia, all the rates include unlimited mileage (please check your selected vehicle terms and conditions).

    Unlimited mileage means that you can drive as much as you want. However we recommend that no individual driver be at the wheel for extended periods and / or without taking appropriate rest. Remember, tiredness can kill! See package details.
  15. Will there be fuel in the car?
    All rental cars are provided with a full tank of fuel and should be refuelled prior to return, otherwise refuelling charges will apply. With "Inclusive Plus" packages there are no charges.
  16. Does insurance cost extra?
    The rate are fully inclusive of mileage, Third party insurance, CDW, theft waiver, airport surcharges, bail bonds (where needed) and all local taxes. You can purchase extra additional cover online or just ask at the rental desk when you collect your car.   17. Am I covered for liability?
    All vehicles in the UK are automatically covered for Legal Liability, Third Party and Public Liability, as required by law. This is included in your rental price.
  18. Can I insure against vehicle damage?
    Most rental prices include cover for vehicle damage - Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). Please see your package. Extra CDW can be purchased online - 3rd stage.If your rental does not cover you for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), then you will be responsible for the cost of repair up to the replacement value of the car, regardless of whether you were at fault.
  19. Can I purchase personal accident insurance?
    Personal Accident Insurance (PAI): Should you have an accident, this will cover the driver and passenger(s) for accidental death, medical expenses and assistance and rescue. See your package deal and T&C for coverage. Super Personal Accident Insurance (SPAI) provides a higher level of accident cover, plus covers for personal effects and baggage and can be purchased online - 3rd stage as pre-bookable options, or ask at the rental desk when you pick-up your rental-vehicle.
  20. Can I purchase insurance for baggage and personal effects?
    Yes - baggage and personal effects can be covered by Super Personal Accident Insurance (SPAI), which is provided as part of one of our great value "Inclusive Plus Gold" packages. You can purchase online 3rd stage as pre-bookable option. See T&C for full details, or ask at the rental desk.
  21. What if I break down or if I have an accident?
    Check over the car yourself when you first collect it. If you notice anything at all, please tell the rental agent who will record it on the Rental Agreement.
    Most of our car rental partners provide clients with complete 24-hour emergency road side assistance. The numbers to be called are printed on the rental agreement and on the rental agreement wallet. In many countries, the number is also on the windscreen of the rental vehicle.
    In the event of a breakdown or an accident, you will receive prompt assistance. You must always remember to complete an accident report form, if an accident happens, giving a full account of the circumstances in which the accident happened.
    In the event of an accident, always make out a jointly agreed report with the other person involved (you'll find one in the folder containing the vehicle's documents). If you don't, you could be held liable for the cost of repairing the damage done to the rental vehicle. Please read carefully the rental terms and any instructions provied at time of pick-up.
  22. Can I extend the rental duration?
    Extending the rental duration is possible at time of check-out or during the rental itself (according to rental company acceptance). According to the country of rental, you have to contact or come in person to the nearest rental location .The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment. The additional charges will be payable in the local currency of the renting country. A complementary autorisation may be requested on your credit card. Do remember that you are only covered for the period mentioned on your printed rental agreement.
  23. Where can I drop the car off?
    The rental vehicle may be returned to the same location you are collecting it from, or to another location - whichever is specified and available at time of booking.
    A one-way fee will be incurred if the collection and return locations are different check our T&C or contact us.
  24. Can I return the car outside the location opening hours?
    Yes, you may return your vehicle when the location is closed, but please check return facilities when picking up the car. The vehicle will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by a rental-supplier representative.
  25. If I bring the car back early can I have a refund?
    Unfortunately no refunds can be given for unused or partly used car hire vouchers unless the amendments or cancellations have been made prior to pick up date, please refer to amendment charges.
  26. What happens if I return the car late?
    Late returns can affect the type of rate assigned to the rental. In most cases, returns of less than 1 hour late (up to 59 minutes) will not be charged extra hours. Returns 60 minutes late or more will result in charge of another day (per 24 hours). Remember that the insurances only cover you for the period mentioned on the rental agreement.
  27. Do I need to return the car with a full tank?
    Our vehicles have a full tank of fuel as supplied and unless it is part of your package or you purchase a full-tank of fuel when you check-out - you should return the vehicle with a full-tank. Otherwise, our rental-supplier will charge for missing fuel at the end of the rental.
    Some locations may have "return empty" clauses where you are requested to retrun the car with as little fuel on board as possible - these are clearly identified in the terms and conditions when you rent.
  28. Do I need to check the condition of the vehicle prior to leaving the keys at the counter?
    Yes, and should you find a new defect (not listed on any on the vehicle statements remitted at time of pick up) you have to inform the Rental Suppliers employee for a joint examination.
  29. Do we offer One Way Rentals?
    If you wish to return the car to a different rental location, please check the rate and feasibility during reservation process. Most rental companies operates a network of international key cities in order to allow flexible travelling, however in non-participating locations you will be required to pay a higher price.
  30. Aside from the basic rental price, are there any additional charges?
    Additional charges to your rental rate may include:
    • Additional Driver charge
    when there is more than one driver associated with a rental, the second, or subsequent, driver is referred to as the additional driver. There may be a charge applied for each, or all, additional drivers.
    • Young driver charge
    see our section "Insurances" and our Terms and Conditions.
    • Premium Location / Airport / Railway Service Charge
    an additional charge which applies at certain central-city, airport or railway locations.
    • Any additional equipment
    additional items that are payable upon collection of your car (such as child seats) that you've requested.
    • After-hours service
    if you pick up or return the car outside the normal opening hours, some countries may bill you for "after-hours service". Please check at reservation time.
    • Full tank option
    in some countries, you have the choice to pre-pay your refuelling service.
  31. What about payment?
    Prepaid vouchers (with a specified value or the mention Group Days Apply) are accepted as means of payment of the rental charges, but they must be accompanied by a credit card for the charges which have not been prepaid (extras, refuelling charge, excess due in case of damage to or loss of the rented vehicle).
    Cash/cheques: only the lowest vehicle categories may be rented against cash or cheque payment ; an additional reference is required and a deposit covering the estimated rental charges and the accident/ theft excess has to be paid in advance.
