There are eight rental car agencies that service the Memphis International Airport. Each of the eight agencies has different hours, and all eight rental car agencies are located off the airport grounds. This means there are no rental car agency counters in the airport where drivers can pick up their rental car. Each of the eight rental car agencies that service the Memphis International Airport offer a number of different rental cars such as coupes, convertibles, minivans, SUVs, and trucks. However, the availability of certain types of rental cars is never guaranteed unless renters reserve their rental car in advance.
Rental Car Agencies
Hertz, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Thrifty, National, Dollar, and Enterprise are the only car rental agencies that service the Memphis International Airport. Travelers who rent a vehicle from any of these eight agencies are required to contact the agency for pickup in the arrivals terminal. Before a complementary rental car shuttle will pick anyone up, travelers must use the free service phones in the near all of the exits in the baggage claim section of the Memphis International Airport.
Every agency provides its own shuttle, which means passengers must make sure they board the correct shuttle. Each shuttle is clearly marked with the name of the rental car agency on the side. After contacting the rental car agencies for pickup, passengers must then wait in the designated area for their shuttle to arrive. Shuttles pick up passengers outside of the baggage claim terminal. There are specific areas where shuttles stop for passengers, which are clearly marked by signs. Passengers can find the courtesy shuttle waiting area by following the signs directing people to the rental shuttle section of the arrivals terminal.
All renters must provide a valid driver’s license and a major credit card to rent a vehicle from any of the agencies listed here. Some do accept debit cards, but the rental car agency will place a large hold on the bank account listed with the debit card.
